Invitation to Book Presentation

We are delighted to invite you to the presentation of a richly illustrated publication that explores the history of the Canadian War Cemetery in Groesbeek, the final resting place of 2,618 soldiers from Canada, the British Commonwealth and allied nations. The volume will be published simultaneously in Dutch as Gezichten van de Bevrijding (Walburg Pers) and in English as Faces of Liberation (Amsterdam University Press). The book is both a tribute to the young men who gave their lives for freedom, democracy, and peace, and a testament to the ongoing transatlantic efforts—by Dutch volunteers and institutions alike—to preserve their memory. Kindly send your RSVP to welkom@vrijheidsmuseum.nl if you wish to participate.

LIFE STORIES

Faces To Canadian War Graves Groesbeek foundation's mission is to write the life stories of the soldiers of the allied forces buried at the Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery (in the Netherlands). We have to pay tribute to those young soldiers who lost their lives so far away from home, fighting for our freedom. Behind the scenes, hard work is being done on the realization of this huge project by our Research Team.

Deeply encouraged by the heart-warming reactions of relatives in Canada we get the inspiration to continue. They sometimes even send us complete life stories!

We also get life stories from High Schools (Lest We Forget), individuals and organizations. These contributions are very valuable and greatly appreciated; every contribution means that another soldier has been saved from oblivion.

WE WILL REMEMBER THEM

We have to pay tribute to those young soldiers who lost their lives so far away from home fighting for our freedom.
Especially now most of their comrades are not able to do this any longer.
We would like to recognize every single one of them by a photo and the story of his life, so they will never be forgotten.
